How cool is this?!?! It's taken almost a whole year for someone to step up and offer some solid, nasty criticism. On the blog post regarding my first big show, and the fact that I sold absolutely nothing, I received the following:

"Would you like to know why no one bought your art? Because all you\'re doing is spritzing spraypaint through your stencils onto poorly painted backgrounds. The backgrounds are on a 6th grade level in skill, and please, come one, stenciled images super imposed?! You\'re style is like a bad hipster joke.\nTry stealing better concepts and ideas. Because that\'s what art is all about. You\'re just starting."

While the delivery sucked, this character is right! I am just starting, and I never claimed to be a professional. My art is fairly simple, and doesn't appeal to everyone. (Although, I do kinda take offense to the "hipster" comment. I'm not a hipster, nor are any of the people who have bought my art...)

Anywho, in honor of Studio MacKenzie's upcoming FIRST ANNIVERSARY, I'm having a HATE MAIL SALE!! All paintings are 20% off during the month of May!! Including clearance!! Take this stuff off my hands so I can get busy making more "hipster" crap!
(Email before you buy so I can adjust the pricing on the Paypal button for you.)

Love and Kisses,
MacKenzie "Talentless Hack" Stonis

and, although we had a GREAT turn out, I didn't sell a damn thing.

I'm curious to know WHY. Please complete the following survey. I'd love to know what you think:

Thanks!

What do YOU want from Studio MacKenzie?

Yay! I've been busy...
Discovered the wonders of graphite paper, ruined hundreds of bottle caps in "green" crafting attempts, have ruined my coffee table and several pairs of pants with paint, passed out hundreds of business cards, and fielded a few custom quote requests. Studio MacKenzie is up and running!
Bring on the inspiration and custom requests!
(No, really!!)

SOLD! Jimi Hendrix is heading to his new home in Ohio. So I'm down to a pitiful 1 painting available for sale.

Have been working on "green" crafts, the ol' 9-to-5, and drumming up some new inspiration for artworks. Any ideas??

The ol' 9-to-5 has been kicking my tush, so there's not been a lot of news to update.

However, I'm going to expand into the GREEN marketplace! Recycled custom crafts and logo-ed shopping totes. Keep an eye out for new items soon.

I've done a "first run" on the recycled crafts that came out *okay*, will post new items as soon as they're available.

ALSO! Some new paintings in the works...stay tuned!

Had a great visit from Natasha Blue (see links) on Friday, and she got me thinking about *other* ways to sell my artwork:
Jewelry
Prints
Tiles
Magnets

Not everyone can cough up hundreds of dollars for a really neat custom painting, but a nice, frame-able 8" x 10" is way more cost effective.

Now, if I can only figure out how to take a reasonably decent photo of a painting, we'll be in business....

I was supposed to be folding laundry and finishing up some paintings tonight. But the increased number of co-workers and friends encouraging me to SELL my art, rather than give it away, has inspired me. Game on.

Discovered this neat, very user-friendly thing called "Weebly" via Google search, and proceeded to construct. Domain name, photos of art, links to pals in similar pursuits, done and done.

So buy some art already!!
